The Egg or the Caique - which came first???, How it all began

Hellooooooooooo Fellow Caique Friends! My name is Jasper, I am a Black Headed Caique - does anyone want my latin name? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway - it's Jasper. Ha, you'll realise if you know Caiques, we're great jokers. Seriously, in Latin I am a Pionites Melanocephala Melanocephala - don't I sound boring already?

Anyway, enough of this rattle! My new step-dad, David found you all and decided to join. When he said hello on my behalf everyone seemed pleased to see me.

I have been growing rapidly and when I want feeding I am surprised that everyone in the world doesn't hear my cries.

I am still only a little over 5 weeks old, so all this activity is making me a little tired. So, I'll finish off by giving you a little picture of me at about 3 weeks old.

Mum and Dad aren't as lucky as me, you see, they live in an Aviary, whereas I'm living in the lap of luxury in my nice and warm incubator. My step-dad very kindly went dashing out through the rain though to take this picture.

Here's Dad. Man, he's so brave that when mum was sitting on my egg, keeping me warm and cosy he attacked the family next door to try to keep me safe. What a hero!

My Weird Uncle and Aunt, What a pair of Weirdos!

Now, I was a bit confused with this pair. They're apparently something called Ducorps - sound a bit like dead bodies! They do look and sound very scary.

Growing pains?, At 4 weeks

Hi folks, I'm just over 4 weeks old now and growing fast. I attach my latest picture. Don't I look great. Funny thing is, I'm developing these strange black areas now. I was kind of getting used to being pink. My beak is beginning to change too!

My eyes are now open and I can see my pet humans now and their beaks are opening too, but I don't know why - I can't hear a thing. I guess that's just normal!

I hope my pictures are beginning to get better for you all, but unfortunately my humans can't keep up with me when I start eating and they get it all over me. It's not my fault that I bob my head up and down a lot whilst I eat - I just enjoy it so much that I can't help it.

Oh well, I've had my feed now and feel a little sleepy again. Speak to you all soon chaps.
