Stage 2 The continuing story of Jasper the Black Headed Caique Jasper at Home!Told by his proud owners David And SarahPreparations, The toys come out of their wrappers..... Well, it's the day before "His Royal Jasperness" comes to live and the last minute preparations have begun. David, not being the handyman of the house, has warned me that I'll be building the cage and that it needs to be done this afternoon! Now, I would guess many of you would already have built his cage before now and would have been waiting frustrated for his arrival, but being the more laid back of the two of us, I've rather been coasting along and it is only his imminent arrival that will now push me into some frenetic activity! So I'll be busy with the spanners, allen keys etc this afternoon, making sense of the cage which we purchased well over a year ago(!). Not that we anticipated the arrival of Jasper then, rather the cage was purchased for our first CAG, Murphy and we soon replaced it after we found that his favourite trick was ripping his paper up at the bottom of the cage because it was sooo close. Who's guessing that Jasper will find that this is an exciting game too? Yes, I'm sure it will happen Where Jasper's diet will differ though from the greys is that as he gets older he will eat less seed and much more fruit. Although our fridge was always full of fruit and veg before our current birds arrived, it has developed new colour schemes since then. Jasper has already developed a fondness for pomegranites, which is good, as Murphy and Lilly already enjoy theirs daily. We'll just have to see what other bits and pieces make him sing for his supper - our breeder friend will advise on what his current favourite is tonight, so we can be sure that we've got plenty to give. Apparently a favourite game of his at the moment is swinging from his millett - he loves to eat all the middle but completely ignore the top and the bottom. Running is also fun. As soon as we've got more pictures you can watch this space as I'm sure we'll make plenty of new discoveries in the days to come. That's all for now guys.
