Recommendations for your Caiques Diet.
Caique Dietry needs
The Caique's main diet should primarily be seeds, fruits, and green vegetables. A commercially prepared parrot mix or pelleted diet can also be beneficial, aswell as "safe" table foods in
small quantities.
As with all bird species, clean, fresh water should be made available at all times.
Caique favourites include -
- Berries - these guys love berries and love pebble dashing your walls with the seeds too!
- Walnuts - do not overfeed any nuts - but walnuts are a real purring treat to these guys
- Pasta - another firm favourite

regarding the sugar intake within the quantity of fruit Caiques eat, we have spoken to two veternarians who agree that Caiques are so energetic they
burn off any sugar intakes very fast.
Feeding habits
These little chaps love dunking their food, in their eyes there is nothing quite like
dunking a tasty favourite into their water bowl, can you blame them? ... nahhh we all like a nice dunked rich tea with our tea or coffee dont we?
Bottled or tapped Water?
There is arguments on both sides as to which is better? personally we use both depending on situations at the time.
Another preference is filtered water, its all up to each individual owner choice of what they prefer to offer.
Medically there is no solid proof that tap water can cause any problems.
Chocolate is POISONOUS to your bird aswell as avocado and mushrooms.
NEVER feed your bird sweets, cakes, crisps, caffeine (tea, coffee, pop or soda), salt or alcohol.
